there are no details as of yet, but my guess is that the external finish has been changed, as seen in the first shot. it looks like there’s a shiny side (where the buttons would be) and a matte side, in which the logo would be. the controller itself would have the same colour, but in a matte finish. but, we’ll have to wait for further information. until then, asus has just released a new set of renders of their upcoming kunai 3 gamepad in a sleek white version.
moving away from the kunai 3, it looks like asus might be making a shift towards mobile gaming. the kunai 3 will only have two buttons, and two sticks. it will have a d-pad, and a trigger on the opposite end.
i think the asus kunai 3 gamepad is a great controller, but the problem is that its only for rog phones. i want to see it come to pc, but i can only see that happening if rog phones arent supported. otherwise, youre going to be missing out on a lot of the controller potential that its capable of.
the only problem with it is that its only good when youre using an asus rog phone, and that phone should have a dedicated gamepad anyways. if youve got a computer and a rog phone, and you want a gamepad, then you should just get the kunai 2. it does work with a pc, but you have to manually assign it with software. it works pretty well too, and thats something the kunai 3s gamepad should offer. even when plugged into a phone, i much prefer the kunai 2, as its a lot more comfortable to hold.
if you have an asus rog phone, and youre looking for a great controller that works with it, then the asus kunai 3 gamepad is a good option. otherwise, its a very expensive controller that only works with one specific phone. it does require software to be able to be used with a pc, but once you do that, youre essentially getting a kunai 2 with a few extra buttons.
if your phone is connected to the usb-c port, the controller will automatically detect it and you can then use it with the rest of your devices. unfortunately, this wasnt the case for me, as i wasnt able to get the controller to detect it, even when trying to restart it. without a computer, the controller would be tough to use. on the plus side, it can work wirelessly without needing to connect to a computer.

for me, the asus p8h61-m le sm bus controller 62 is a great controller that can also be used with the rog phone 5. it has a tactile and clicky feel to it, and has been a great addition to my gaming experience, even on ios. i do feel that for the amount of money asus is asking for it, it should have been a bit more reliable, but i understand that its a beta version and the support on the android 11 issue was a bit of a mess.
