even with the relatively small size of rayman legends, there’s so much to do, and it doesn’t take a lot of time to get through it. from the aforementioned variety of worlds and bosses, to the multiple difficulty settings, to the lucky tickets, which you can use to earn extra coins or items, or even just a ticket to unlock a level, there’s more than enough to keep you busy. even the fairly simplistic minigames and time trials will have you going for hours. i played for a full eight hours, and i still have so much left to do, and more to look forward to.
if you have a love for platforming games or just rayman the character, you owe it to yourself to take the plunge into rayman legends. it’s pretty dang hard, but well worth it. it’s easy to get into, with a variety of characters and levels to play through, it’s incredibly difficult to master, and with the multiple difficulty settings and optional challenges, you’ll have a blast.
as far as the simple platforming is concerned, rayman legends is fairly typical of its genre. you have several platforms to cross, and you can jump on them to go up or down, and then you can jump off to reach a higher platform, and then sometimes you’ll have to jump off a higher platform to reach a higher platform. the premise is simple enough and the gameplay loop is fairly straightforward – you simply need to hit all the teensies, and then hit the ground before you fall off the level. and you do have to be careful with the teensies, as a hit from one will send you off the level and back to the start. the platforming itself is more or less the only aspect of the game that’s more complex than a simple platformer, as the puzzles generally don’t involve movement, and instead focus on platforming, jumping, and platforming.
